Well here is the result of the dying disaster. The blue mostly washed right out but I had added a little yellow and that took really well. The pieces I put in the pot of red dye turned into a nice lilac colour.
I am quite pleased with the results all in all. Plenty of scope with these gelati colours. Very pretty and soft.
I have quite a collection of lace and trims now, which is just as well as I have decided to try out some crazy patchwork. I have plenty of scraps to use up so lots of scope for new projects.
This is a piece I made a start on last night. Now the fun starts with embellishing it. When to stop will be the difficult part.

Dian, you can't be sad about those colours, they are soft and pretty. I can't wait to see the crazy with some embellishment.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I recognize the fabric UNDER the basket. I'm sure I have some of that, actually, I think I made a skirt out of part of it.
Your dying turned out really well. I love the basket of coloured lace. And yes, when to stop is the age-old question! Good luck, I cant wait to see the finished product.
ReplyDeleteI love the basketful of dyed trims, Dian. Have fun with your crazy patchwork. One day I will have to give crazy patchwork a serious try!
ReplyDeleteI am always aiming to try out crazy patchwork too. So nice to just decorate it to your own taste. Your basket of coloured lace/trimmings looks so pretty.
