a little bit of stitching

I bought this pretty little doiley some time ago and had intended to dye it as the fabric in the centre was very worn with some small holes.

It was so pretty that I really didn't want to add colour to the lace so I decided to add some embroidered  silk flowers and a few beads.

I am quite pleased with the results.

On Friday, after lunch at the Tanti Mornington Hotel I took the grandchildren to Sunset Beach which is nearby.  The water comes right up to the wooden steps when the tide is in.

The children would have stayed for hours but I was freezing so we set off to the mobile library in Mount Eliza to stock up on reading matter.

Your ribbon embroidered doily is beautiful and very delicate. You do come across some wonderful finds.

I think the silk ribbon flowers look great on that little doiley Dian - great idea. My goodness, the sea does look menacing in the photo. I don't think I would have enjoyed standing there for too long either. You must be experiencing some very cold weather your way, as it's bad enough up here!! Stay warm, perhaps inside with some of your books from the library.

I love what you have done with the doiley. I try to avoid adding crocheted doilies to my linen collection, because my interest is mainly embroidery, not crochet. But I have a few of these with the plain centres, and I'd like to find the time one day to do what you've done (but not with ribbons!)
