Chadstone Shopping Centre

Today I had to take my car to the mechanic for a service and as this is about 45 minutes away I asked my Son-in-law (he works from home) if he would pick me up and take me to Chadstone Shopping Centre and then take me back in the afternoon.

I have not been to Chadstone for many years and was stunned to see how up market and glamorous it has become.  Lots of high end stores and beautiful shiny displays.

I didn't bother to go into these shops but enjoyed the window displays.

When I was growing up Chadstone was a modern new shopping centre and over the years it has continued to grow - taking up more and more land for more and more shops and of course extensive car parking.  It features lots of cafes as well as supermarkets and a large cinema complex.  There are plans for more shops and a hotel in the future.

I did enjoy my day out and was pleased to find a craft supplies shop which had several items I "needed".

The one other shop that lured me in the door was the Allanah Hill store: a truly delicious array of clothing and accessories.  I did buy two gorgeous hair clips which were beautifully wrapped.  This brand names its various ranges with very imaginative and romantic titles.  These clips are in the "two hearts breaking" range.

As you know I am much more at home in op shops but it is good to see what is happening in the retail world.

My car is fine again for another 6 months and I have had my big shopping centre fix.

Do love the glass ceiling, brings in so much lovely light. I go to the mall as we call them here, about once every three months and after an hour I can't wait to leave.....but that looks like a lovely place. xox

Gee Chadstone is a very impressive shopping centre. We all seem to be able to find things we "need" on these sort of outings. :)

I used to love Chadstone when in Aus, last time in 2001 it had grown again no doubt it is even bigger now, makes me think a trip over would be worth it but the fares are so very expensive now and would need to do lots of internal flights to meet up with all those I blog too, in my dreams!

OMG....I grew up in Caulfield and I remember when Chadstone opened, a brand new bus service was created to go there and it passed the end of our street. So Mum and I would often hop on the bus for a day's outing. She would roll over in her grave if she could see it, and while I'm not in my grave yet, I am blown away whenever I see photos of what it has become. I should put it on our 'to go' list, now that Ken is retired. Neither of us have been to Chadstone for more than 30 years, and now we have the time (and the money, lol) it might be a fun day out.
