Today Mike and I went for a quick outing to Snapper Point in Mornington. It is only about ten minutes from home and although it has been cool and cloudy day it was lovely to be out for a while.
There is a path and steps up to a memorial marking the bicentenary of the birth of Matthew Flinders; he circumnavigated Australia and there are many places named after him: Flinders Street Station being well known.
The plaque also shows the directions to various places from the point. I always like these kind of markers as they speak of our past but also our present.
There were hundreds of people in the area today: some boating, fishing from the jetty, eating at the Rocks Restaurant (which is lovely) or buying take-away fish'n'chips from the cafe. (also delicious) Then there were the walkers and photographers of course.
There is so much to see and it is just one of the many wonderful places to visit close to our home.
I hope everyone has had a great weekend - I feel refreshed and ready to do some more renovating this week.

When I was a young married, I lived at Sorrento and love the Mornington Peninsula. It is so nice to revisit old memories thank you for the pics.
I also have Sorrento memories, think I had my best ever fish and chips there
Diane, this is EXACTLY where Ken and I spent the day watching the tall ships a few weeks ago! I literally jumped (only an inch or so) when I saw your photos :-)
