COOLANGATTA AND TWEED HEADS

This morning we went to Coolangatta (Queensland) to take a look at the beach.  There were not many people about: the morning was cloudy but warm and the surf was quite rough.

I didn't swim but I did manage to get pretty wet.
Coolangatta is at the southern part of the gold coast and is a family resort area.  As you can see there are plenty of high rise hotels to choose from and the beach is huge.

This beach can be quite treacherous and the surf lifesavers are on patrol.  It is important to swim in the areas designated as they cannot cover the whole area.  This is one of the reassuring sights on many Australian beaches.

The sky does look rather grim doesn't it. Do they still call it Greenmount Beach?? We used to swim there as children [on holidays]. There always seems to be surfers no matter what the weather. I hope the day 'brigtens' a little for you, but I'm sure you'll make the best of whatever the weather has to offer. Lovely to see where you are.

Dianne, i hope you have a great time away and spend lots of money at the craft shops.
Aren't we blessed to have such a dedicated group in Australia as the Life Savers.
It isn't 30 degrees today; wet, and muggy and about 23.

Yes, it is Greenmount Linda. I thought you would recognise the view. The surfers were out in force and although it was cloudy it is still a gorgeous place to be.
